Unclaimed Baggage’s 45th Annual Ski Sale returns with the biggest inventory in event history

SCOTTSBORO, Ala., Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Snow may rarely fall in Alabama, but the state is home to one of America’s largest annual ski events. Unclaimed Baggage, the nation’s only retailer of lost luggage, will host its 45th Annual Ski Sale on Saturday, Nov. 7, offering more than 50,000 square feet of ski gear, winter wear and holiday finds at up to 80% off retail value.

Unclaimed Baggage is the nation's only retailer of lost luggage. With a one-of-a-kind retail store in Scottsboro, Alabama, and an online store attracting millions internationally, Unclaimed Baggage is the country’s only merchant of unclaimed and lost airline baggage and its contents.

Held annually since 1981, the Ski Sale has grown into one of the largest events of its kind, drawing visitors from across the nation. Unclaimed Baggage sets aside winter merchandise throughout the year to build inventory for the sale, and this year’s stock is the largest in the event’s 45-year history.

“The annual Ski Sale is a major highlight of our year,” said Bryan Owens, owner of Unclaimed Baggage. “It’s a chance to bring our community together and for skiers and winter enthusiasts of every level to gear up for the season, find great deals on great equipment and get one step closer to that first run down the mountain.”

During the Nov. 7 sale, new product will be released in waves throughout the day, and a second sales floor will be set up under a tent outside the main store to accommodate the crowds. Shoppers can expect skis, snowboards, helmets and outerwear from top brands including Patagonia, Arc’teryx, Salomon, Canada Goose and Moncler, all sourced from lost airline luggage.

Every year, dozens of enthusiastic deal-seekers arrive the night before to camp out and secure an early spot in line. The first 45 people in line will get a 45-minute head start to shop the store before the doors open, as well as receive a $45 Unclaimed Baggage gift card and a free Ski Sale t-shirt. An experience all on its own, Unclaimed Baggage provides fire pits and s’mores, pizza, games and movies for campers, with tents also available for guests to rent. For many, the Ski Sale campout has become an annual tradition.

To mark the sale’s 45th anniversary, Unclaimed Baggage is giving away a 2026-27 Epic Pass, a season pass that unlocks more than 90 destinations worldwide, with unlimited, blackout-free access at 42 Vail Resorts mountains including Vail, Breckenridge, Park City and Whistler Blackcomb. Every guest who attends on Nov. 7 will have the chance to enter to win, turning a single day in Scottsboro, Alabama, into a full winter of skiing and riding.

The 45th Annual Ski Sale takes place Saturday, Nov. 7, at Unclaimed Baggage’s brick and mortar store in Scottsboro, AL from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. CT.
